With the modern world’s drive towards mass-production, big business, and the technological, creative pursuits and careers are often left under-valued, under-funded, and under-appreciated by wider society.
As spiritual individuals, we know that many of the beauties of our world and even the functional items in our homes couldn’t exist without creative minds painting, drawing, designing, sewing, and so on.
There are so many benefits to creative living, but some of us can find this free-thinking a struggle and may need to relearn how to view the world with a creative eye.
Others may already embrace creativity but feel like they’ve hit a roadblock with their artistic endeavors, or don’t know how to progress further within their chosen craft.
This is where crystals come in!
In this article we’ll be taking a closer look at creativity, learning how living life in a creative way can benefit your social, emotional, mental, and spiritual health, before moving on to the perfect crystals that can kick your creativity into overdrive!
Why It’s Important To Embrace Creativity
There are so many reasons why embracing creativity is important – in fact, I could write a whole article on this!
I’m an art teacher by trade so of course, there may be some bias in my worldview, but I truly believe many of the challenges we face in life could be overcome if we’d been taught and encouraged to undertake creative outlets.
Why is this?
Well, being creative benefits us in the following ways (to name just a few):
- Increase Ability to Problem Solve: Being creative causes us to shift our worldview and see problems, concepts, and ideas from multiple angles. This can help us come up with innovative solutions to our problems which can benefit us in life and work.
- Formulate Identity: A large portion of our identity is made up of how we ‘customize’ our lives. If you think about it, we’re all humans who live, breathe, and die. What makes us different is how we approach the world during our time on it. Creative exercises can help us to discover new facets of ourselves and understand the kind of person we want to project to the world.
- Developing Confidence (and resilience): A lot of creative pursuits are achieved by practice, trial, and error. (Picasso didn’t just paint masterpieces overnight!) Having to work at something increases our resilience to failure and when we’re able to step back and see our finished result we can gain a great confidence boost!
The Health Benefits Of Creativity
That’s not all, living creatively has also been proven to be highly beneficial for our health too!
Just take a look at the following list and I’m sure you’ll want to reach for the paintbrush or coloring pens! (and some crystals of course!)
- Mental health and reduces the impacts of depression
- Increases and maintains brain function
- Reduces the risk of dementia
- Improves intellect
- Boosts the immune system
- Provides improvement in overall health and wellbeing
Can Crystals Really Help With Creativity?
Of course, I wouldn’t be writing this article if I didn’t believe that crystals can be beneficial in so many ways.
But, even looking at it as a realist, many crystals are affordable, gorgeous to look at, and make great room/studio decor, so even if you’re skeptical is there really anything to lose in trying?
In the next section of this article, I’ll be breaking down a few of the ways that crystals can benefit creatives as well as the creative process.
How Crystals Work For Creativity
Crystals can help with our creativity in many ways.
Most beneficial for artistic individuals is the control of energy flow that crystals can provide.
Many creatives put their heart and soul into their work and creating a piece of art can be a drain on their energy reserves and can lead to burnout or many pieces being left half-finished.
Crystals are able to emit positive and restorative energy as well as capture and store negative energy which can help keep you feeling refreshed even after a long creative session.
Even if the energy flow inherent to crystals isn’t something you can get behind, the crystals themselves may be used as a visual reminder to be calm, to take time, or to trust your instincts.
This may be combined with a mantra that you can use sporadically throughout the day to keep yourself on track.
Even the beauty of the crystals in your workspace may be inspiring to you.
Crystals can catch the light in many stunning ways and may appear to shift in color during the day. You might find yourself starting to sketch the crystals or have an idea for a design inspired by the sight before you.
11+ BEST Crystals For Creativity
Of course, a boost in creativity isn’t just beneficial to the artisans among us. Even if you work in the complete opposite-field such as statistics or accounting, a creative idea or solution can allow you to perform better at your tasks or solve a long-standing problem.
Because of this, I’ve collected a master list of a range of creative crystals which should offer a little something for everyone and should provide help for a range of creative needs.
You’ll find that Amethyst appears on a lot of lists of best crystals, because, as a confidence-booster Amethyst is a stone that is useful in many different settings and can be applied to almost every facet of daily life.
A stone of wisdom, intuition, and self-belief, Amethyst can help us to shed the doubts we may feel at the start or midway point of a creative project.
In regards to creative opportunities in the workplace, Amethyst may give us the confidence to speak up about our innovative solutions to a work-related problem.
Creative minds can often run at break-neck speed.
You may find yourself mentally planning a variety of projects at once whilst trying to still focus on the task at hand. Aquamarine is a brilliant stone for centering ourselves and bringing a wave of calm to slow down minds that may be running out of control.
Aside from use in a primarily creative space Aquamarine can be brilliant in business boardrooms where during meetings plenty of ideas may be generated.
As mentioned earlier the artistic process can sometimes take it out on us. If you’re a person whose creative outlet is a place to release your passion or energy then consider bringing some Carnelian into your space!
Carnelian is connected to the sacral chakra which is the seat of creativity, passion, and sexuality. Carnelian will help to invigorate your creative process as well as sustain you when you’re deep into your project.
4. Tangerine Quartz
This is a more obscure stone but is perfect for individuals looking to be more creative. Oftentimes what keeps us from expressing our creative side is a fear of failure or not being able to produce something ‘perfect’, when most of the joy and health benefits are actually achieved from the act itself and not the outcome.
Tangerine Quartz is a crystal that is said to remind the user of the childish wonder they had as youths which allows them to shake off this ‘adult’ fear of failure and focus on the joys of play and experimentation.
A positive outlook is often the difference between a successful creative outcome and a frustrating failure.
A lot of good creative practice is embracing the mistakes or the accidental and working to either include or overcome them in your work.
Rhodochrosite is a crystal that emits positive vibes and encourages dreaming. It also leaves you feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and restored and like tangerine, quartz is a playful stone.
If you find yourself lacking ideas or suffering from creative blocks then Apatite is the stone you need in your life.
Apatite is a crystal that provides mental clarity and increases mental acuity. It enables you to part the clouds and see your problem more clearly and gives you the creative outlook needed to come to a successful solution.
Because of this Apatite is known as the problem-solving stone and is a popular choice for those in business.
Working in a creative setting often means working for yourself or working with long-term and/or flexible deadlines.
Because of this, it can be easy to become unmotivated or slip into bad and lazy habits. Citrine is a handy crystal to have around in times such as these as it is a negative energy magnetic and encourages you to keep stepping forward when pursuing goals.
Better still Citrine is also great for focus so is perfect if you find yourself continually distracted from the task at hand.
Basalt is a crystal that doesn’t often appear on lists of great crystals despite its useful properties.
The main ability of this crystal is to enhance creativity; so really this should be number one on your list of must-have crystals. Basalt is known to store up creative energies and emit them when you’re most in need of them so is a great crystal to have as a metaphorical cheerleader.
Basalt is particularly useful for the more reserved creative be this in the studio or the office, Basalt can help give you the confidence to speak out and share your creative ideas.
Malachite is the perfect stone for fostering new beginnings.
Many of us discover our creative gifts later in life and Malachite can be amazing at encouraging us to foster this creativity and maybe direct our lives towards this outcome in the form of a new business or venture.
Like Amethyst, Malachite is a confidence stone and gives us the strength to trust ourselves and our conviction.
If you’re looking for a crystal to give you a metaphorical kick up the backside and finally start your journey to your creative dreams then Ametrine is your new best friend.
Able to give you the power to take control of your life, this powerful crystal also strengthens focus and clarity and allows you to get things straight in your head.
As for myself as a creative individual can attest to, sorting out the jumbled mess of my mind is often the key to great creative output and for this reason, Ametrine is a must-have for those already in or looking to enter the creative industry.
Another stone that is great for providing you with energy, as it works with the root chakra Garnet is also the perfect stone for centering yourself and not letting your creative ideas overwhelm you.
Alongside this Garnet helps you to express your unique creative identity and motivates you to share your creativity with others.
Lastly, Garnet can also help you to deflect negativity and criticism either from external sources or internal intrusive thoughts.

If in Doubt: Clear Quartz
If you’ve read any of my previous articles you’ll know how often Clear Quartz comes up.
Because it’s hands-down probably the best stone out there for almost all things. Cheap, easy to source, and known as the universal stone, Clear Quartz is also a boon for creativity.
Resonating with all the chakras, Clear Quartz is able to bring you harmony and peace, and regulating energy flow allows you to focus on your creative tasks.
How To Use Crystals For Maximum Effect On Creativity
There are a variety of different ways you can get the most out of your creativity crystals so here’s a rundown of some of my favorites to get you started!
1. Meditation with Crystals
It’s easy to incorporate a crystal or two into your meditation practices.
You can hold a crystal in each hand while meditation, practice a chakra balancing exercise, try reiki healing with said crystals, or get creative and make a crystal grid.
Making a crystal grid is an article within itself but there are plenty of guides out there to get you started.
2. Place a Crystal Under your Pillow
Your dreams are where your creativity can express itself freely without judgment or distraction, therefore it goes without saying that under your pillow is one of the best places to leave a crystal if you’re looking to enhance your creative output.
This will help you wake up and feel refreshed and ready to take on the day and let your creative juices flow.
In the case of more sizable or delicate crystals, placing them on your bedside is just as good!
3. Placement in your Work Space
If you’re an artist with a studio, avid home crafter, or want to bring some creativity into the office then of course a smart move is to place crystals within your place of work.
This may be on your desk, in your top drawer, on your windowsill, or in your studio or craft room, the placement doesn’t matter so long as the crystal is close enough to you for you to receive its many benefits.
4. Wearing Crystals
The most common and understated way to use crystals to enhance your creativity is to wear them.
This is particularly useful in the case of expensive precious stones such as Ruby, Garnet, and Diamond as you get a special keepsake or fashion statement whilst still looking after your creativity.
If jewelry isn’t your thing then there are a whole host of different gemstone keyrings and bag charms you could try, or you could simplify the whole thing and simply carry a small crystal around in your pocket or handbag for an on-the-go creative boost.
5. Use them in Manifestation Activities
A manifestation box is a great creative spiritual activity in which you can incorporate your creativity crystals.
You could also use these crystals in a variety of different manifestation practices and could choose to charge the crystals with a chosen mantra or affirmation.
Lastly…Let them do their Thing!
As we all know, a watched kettle never boils, and when it comes to crystals sometimes the best thing to do is to leave them be and let them do their good work.
Just like you cannot force creativity you cannot force a crystal to work for you.
Take a step back and trust in the process, let go of your worries and skepticism and open yourself up to the positive energies emitted by the crystals on this list.
